AT BILLY BUTTON BABYSITTING all our representatives of the Agency are required to observe child safe principles as outlined by the Children's Guardian of NSW and Office of the advocate for children and young people. Agency Representatives have an obligation for appropriate behaviour towards and in the company of children and vulnerable people. Agency Representatives are expected to follow our code of ethics below. All representatives of the Agency are responsible for supporting the safety, participation, wellbeing and empowerment of children and vulnerable people.

Responsibilities of Agency Representatives
Our representatives will:
- Adhere to Child Safety Policies: We uphold the Agency’s child-safe policy at all times. The safety and well-being of children are our top priority.
- Embrace Our Philosophy: We align with the core values and philosophy of Billy Button Babysitting. Our approach is rooted in compassion, respect, and individualised care.
- Observe Agency Rules: We follow all rules and guidelines set forth by our agency. This ensures consistency and professionalism in our interactions.
- Provide Ethical and Skilled Support: Our representatives offer support to participants and families in a safe, ethical manner. We prioritise care and skill in all interactions.
- Work Safely and Competently: We adhere to organisational policies and procedures, ensuring a secure environment for everyone involved.
- Respect Dignity and Diversity: We honour the cultural values, beliefs, and dignity of all individuals. Our interactions are inclusive and respectful.
- Flexibility and Innovation: We respond to participant and family needs in flexible and innovative ways, adapting to unique situations.
- Positive Representation: Our behaviour reflects positively on Billy Button Babysitting. We maintain a professional image at all times.
- Appropriate Attire: Representatives wear clean and suitable work clothes or uniforms while on duty.
- Accurate Record Keeping: We adhere to all record-keeping and accounting procedures, ensuring transparency and accountability.
- Quality Services: Our commitment to quality ensures exceptional service delivery.
- Protection of Vulnerable Individuals: We take reasonable steps to protect children and vulnerable people from abuse.
- Treat Everyone with Respect: Respectful interactions are fundamental to our role.
- Honesty and Trustworthiness: We act with integrity, honesty, and trustworthiness.
- Diligence and Tidiness: Our duties are performed diligently, maintaining a clean and organized workplace.
- Listening and Responding: We actively listen to the views and concerns of children and vulnerable individuals. If safety is at risk, we take appropriate action.
Additional Responsibilities
In addition to the above, our representatives will:
- Promote Safety and Empowerment: We actively promote the safety, participation, and empowerment of adults and children with disabilities. This includes personal care activities.
- Report Child Abuse Allegations: Any allegations of child abuse or safety concerns must be promptly reported to the Agency via our incident reports page. Mandatory reporting is a legal requirement.
- Ensure Child Safety: If an allegation of child abuse is made, we will take immediate action to ensure the safety of the child(ren) involved.
- Encourage Participation: We encourage children and vulnerable people to have a say and participate in relevant organisational activities, especially on issues important to them.
- Transparency and Integrity: Our decisions and advice are transparent, and we act with integrity.
- Respect Rights and Privacy: We respect individuals’ rights to freedom of expression, self-determination, and decision-making. Privacy and confidentiality are paramount.
- Safe Work Environment: We create a safe work environment free from abuse, violence, discrimination, harassment, or victimization.
- Risk Reporting: Any potential or real risks of harm to individuals with disabilities will be promptly reported to supervisors.
